Yes, we receive baseline funding from the Ministry of Health (MOH). However, this only covers 60% of manpower costs. Your donation supports the delivery of programmes and services, allows us to go further — to innovate, personalise care, expand outreach, and respond quickly to emerging needs that public funds may not cover.
In 2020, we had 130 staff members supporting 6,500 seniors, with the help of 1,400 volunteers. By 2024, our staff grew to 150, serving 13,000 seniors. However, our volunteer base declined to 1,000, with only 400 actively engaged. Looking ahead, we aim to serve 27,000 seniors by 2030.
Yes. Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore) is a registered Charity and Institution of a Public Character (IPC). This allows us to issue tax-deductible receipts and assures donors of sound governance and accountability.

Yes, all dollar amounts mentioned on the website refer to SGD (Singapore Dollar).
For example, if a team has 3 people (Person A, B & C) and someone donates SGD 90 via the team page, then each person will receive SGD 30 (SGD 90/3). If Person A raises an additional SGD 10 on their own, their total raised amount would be SGD 40. The team's total raised amount would be SGD 90 + SGD 10 = SGD 100. If a 4th person (Person D) joins the team, any further donations received through the team will be divided by 4.
The SGD 100 raised by the individual will be added to the team's total amount raised. The person will become a new member of the team.
The $10 minimum ensures your donation qualifies for 250% tax deduction under IRAS regulations. It also helps us manage processing and administrative costs efficiently. Every donation, regardless of size, is deeply valued.
Yes. Donations of $10 and above are eligible for 250% tax deduction. If you provide your NRIC or UEN, the deduction will be automatically reflected in your tax assessment.
