A Life Woven with Love
Mdm Kaiyati Ahmad’s story at Lions Befrienders Active Ageing Centre (LB AAC @ TPN 494E) exemplifies how ageing can be filled with connection, purpose, and joy. After years devoted to caregiving and childminding—including adopting and raising eight children—she now channels her love into crafts, companionship, and community engagement.
Despite personal challenges, including caring for her paralysed husband, she remains resilient and optimistic, finding strength through humour, routine, and the supportive environment at LB. There, she not only recharges but also gives back—encouraging fellow seniors, building friendships across cultures, and ensuring no one is left behind. Her journey is a powerful reminder that ageing is not about slowing down, but staying engaged with life and those around us.

Some bonds are unbreakable. For Mdm. Teo, 98, and her daughter Mdm. Ruth, 78, life has been a journey of resilience, love, and unwavering support. From surviving World War II to overcoming personal hardships, their story is a testament to the strength of family.
At Lions Befrienders, they have found more than just a senior centre—they have found a home. A place where laughter, companionship, and heartfelt care continue to uplift them every day.

Percussions of the Heart
For over a decade, 68-year-old Mr. Tan devoted himself to caring for his wife after her stroke in 2014, retiring early to become her full-time caregiver while also raising their two children. Though fulfilling, the caregiving journey was isolating, leaving him little time or energy for himself.
That changed in 2022 when he discovered Lions Befrienders Active Ageing Centre, where a supportive community and buddying service helped him reconnect with the world. Through activities like percussion drumming and social outings, Mr. Tan rediscovered joy, friendship, and self-care—finding moments of relief, laughter, and renewed purpose beyond his caregiving duties.
